Week of Sept 13¶
Life¶
After the Update Sept 7 update, a bunch of things have happened.
-
Spent an entire evening hanging out with Tanvi on her birthday. It was a fun-filled evening. Met a LOT of friends whom I otherwise don't get to meet because of life. It was a very wholesome evening.
-
Started watching the show The Pitt. I love a good medical drama and this one is great.
-
Caught up with a lot of friends. I spoke to varsha and suraj after like ages. Suraj is coming to India. I recently learnt that Suraj's younger brother has moved to Bangalore. He has charged me to "choote so smabhal ke rakhna", something which I take very seriously.
-
Need to catch up with other friends too. I've been lagging on my socials for a while. I have been feeling exceedingly exhausted after social so Ive been avoiding those.
-
I spent sometime on Saturday hanging out with a newphew of mine. We walked around the streets of Indiranagar with sticks in our hands. We picked these sticks from the ground. The 4 y/o was extremely happy with the stick (who wouldn't; it was great stick). My stick was less interesting, but it was still a stick. We went around poking at water puddles and writing on mud. After a while the kiddo got bored and we proceeded to install the sticks upright on a patch of mud. After that he gave me a stone to take home. I gave secured it carefully in my cupboard.
-
I am planning to get tested for ADHD.
-
I got the motorcycle battery replaced. It was almost 5 years old and the time had come. I had to bump-start the bike after the vacation. That was a fun experience, however I do not wish to keep doing it.
-
I have started reading the book Games; Art as Agency. It is quite a read.
Running and lifestyle¶
This week I ran 42k. This was fully inspired by Kevins partner. She is an incredible runner and upon hearing my goal of running an ultra (30k) in Nov, she started giving me a hard time about not having enough running volume.
She is obviously right. I need to step up my game.
Now I am considering to seriously follow a 14-day training block. I was trying to cram all types of workouts in a 7 day block which was not easy. Thinking is 14-day blocks really helps me pace myself. Thus I have more energy to live a normal life and my workouts are also of good quality.
I also decided that for zone-2 specifically I can and should cross-train. Specifically the rowing machine. I am in-luck because the gym closest to my home does have one.
I am also slightly disappointed about the time this will realistically take. Realistically to get better at running I will need atleast 12 to 18 months of consistent training. My dream of running the 65k Buddha Trails is not wise. I will not sign up for it. Instead I will focus on getting my regular training. I hope I am in a better shape next year.
I am hoping to improve my current z2 page which sits at about 10 mins per km with a z2 hr of 140. I am hoping the pace gets better.
As it stands now, most of my weekends will be devoted to running / training. I am unable to engage is social activities on weekends because of this.
I have also started to sleep early and wake up early. This makes evening plans very delicate. It is a change, but I am sure that there is no other way. I need to focus on what is really important.
Writing¶
I am writing a lot more than usual. I am using a pen-and-paper combination to take lots of notes. It has been really helpful for my day-to-day thinking.
I am considering moving my blog to Cloudflare Pages.
Honestly I can not hide behind the fact that the main reason for not moving is that I dont want to learn something new. :P
(yes fenil, I will move to cloudflare-pages)
Diet¶
My Diet over the last week has been great. I have been eating the same meals consistently.
3 eggs for breakfast, 1 dosa for lunch, 1 chai + egg puff in the evening and an open Shawarma for dinner.
7 days, same meal. It was great. I like not having to think about food this way.
Saturday was weird because for some reason the egg-puffs in all the stores near my house ran out. Maybe the Chickens are on a strike ? I am not sure as I am not following the daily chicken news.
I really like having a routine. It helps me think about other things.
What am I excited for in the coming week ?¶
- The office has moved to a new location. It will be fun to finally see the office. It is exciting.
- I am finally pleding myself to a 14-day training block. I am excited about the new workouts and stuff. All of this is still DIY. I plan to consult with a trainer friend of mine.
- Me and Abhishek are planning to rent a flat together. I am excited about living with him and potentially living in a bigger space
- Another week of same diet. :)
- I plan to migrate the blog to cloudflare-pages and start playing around with silverbullter + quartz setup (https://quartz.jzhao.xyz/)
