Updates from Sep 28¶
Life¶
I have been reconnecting with a lot of friends. Like I said I was lagging on my socials and I am catching up. It has been a lot of fun.
We celebrated Azan's birthday. It was a lovely evening. I am very glad we are friends.
I went ahead and finally visited a meetup of the "Poha Jalebi club". Even though this was in HSR, it was quite fun. Met a bunch of people, which was slightly exhausting.
Kevin has been egging me to go out and meet more people / join more communities (like running etc). To that end, this week I am going on a hike with a group that he is familiar with. I am going as a "leader" which is rather interesting.
I was going through a rough patch especially during the IndiaFoss weekend. However, I met some friends and reconnected with some old ones. I reached out to Farhan and Ani. They sort of adopted me and now I am joining them once a week to co-work / hack on projects.
During IndiaFoss also Fenil adopted me on both the days and we spent sometime hanging out with his buddies from the FP India club. That was great. I am very grateful for this.
I have started journaling on my diary with a fountain pen. It has been a wholesome experience doing that.
Running¶
The 14-day running and lifting workout that I am doing is actually too intense. The last two weeks I've been attempting it and it has killed me every single time both the weeks.
I have 1 day of rowing in that routine. This rowing kept me sore for 2 days after. It is a wonderful feeling. I have never been this sore in a LONG time (especially due to exercise)
The running intervals are also killing it. I have never trained intervals etc before. It is extremely brutal. But I am glad.
I met someone who is also training for a trail-run and I sort-of shared my running plan in some group for people to use as a reference. I think there is some sense to my plan. I have 2 months until the race.
Fun Stuff¶

I am writing this from a cafe. There is a wire outside which has ants on it. I keep thinking about the book Chaos in which James Gleick talks about different modes of dimensions. The idea is called scale-dependent effective dimension. The idea is that a piece of wire looks 2-d, but if you are an ant, then the wire suddenly has a lot of dimensions that you can walk on / crawl on.

I was in an auto-rickshaw once and the door was tight so I could not open it. The driver made me say "khulja sim-sim" and then helped me open the door. It was a very warm and sweet interaction.

It was raining a couple days ago and I was walking on the streets. Normally the streets smells horrible when it rains because of stellar sewage that we have in this corner of the world. However this particular time, it actually smelled stellar. I soon realized that there was a shop nearby that was discarding soup on the streets and thus this particular stretch was smelling of chicken-soup. It was a very surprising experience because normally I do not associate that smell when I'm walking in the rain.
