Day 8 / 15 : Samagaun to Samdo

date: 17/5

This hike was fairly easy compared to the rest of the days.

We started from Samagaun early at 7 o clock because shyam and the rest of the group wanted to hike upto samdo-ri.
Hassan wanted to attempt the Manaslu Basecamp again , so he started off on his own at 5 am in the morning. He would meet us at Samdo the next day. Samdo is a rest point where we would stop for 2 nights.

The hotel at Samdo is fairly good. The wifi here is the strongest I've seen on the whole trail. The food at the hotel is bad. Somehow all the local dishes are undercooked, while the continental dishes are good.

The trail from Samagaun to Samdo is mostly flat covering 5 odd kilometers with barely 500m of elevation gain. There is a small climb just before reaching the tiny village of Samdo, that's about it.

Once we reached everyone settled in the dining hall for some quick food before shyam, sonam and Niranjan left for the hike to Samdo basecamp.

I was feeling very lethargic and I wanted to take a break so I stayed put.

They came back around evening and we spent a bunch of time chatting about the time they went hiking to triund and almost managed to freeze. Those were the initial days where shyam was trekking.

Dinner again was extremely disappointing as the food was undercooked. We ended up feeding the t-momo to the local donkeys.

Tomorrow was supposed to be a hike to tibetian border so we packed our bags and slept early.
